Go Hard Or Go Easy
If you’re a writer or a blogger (and for the record, you’re both if you blog), then November is THE month for you. There are not one, but two, great events for you to hone your skills and perfect your craft.
The Hard

A long time ago in a galaxy far away, some folks decided that to write a novel, it might be easier to work as a group, supporting one another on the journey. Thus was born, NaNoWriMo, aka National Novel Writing Month. The object is to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. I won’t lie. It’s not easy. For some strange reason, they picked the month with the biggest family holiday (Thanksgiving!), but still it’s November. The website offers great support with local groups and email pep talks from some serious writers like Sue Grafton and Neil Gaiman. Some of our Guild members have participated and will be participating again this year.
Let’s say you’re a little daunted by the challenge of 50,000 words. Oh, they got you covered.
The Easy
The whole thing started off as a goof based on National Novel Writing Month, the challenge of which is to try to write an entire novel during the month November. Not everyone can commit to an endeavor of such magnitude, though, and so National Blog Posting Month was born.
So, you just have to post a blog entry every day for the month of November. Easy-peasy. I’ve done this one successfully. Heck, I even got a prize one year for finishing.
So, take your pick and be the writer/blogger you are. Good luck!

I’m in for the novel writing. I can’t commit to a blog post every day. Ironic, no?
